0 Quick note : File system on Linux file-server.

 

If you will store and share a lot (A LOT) small files – mp3, jpg,etc , then best filesystem is ReiserFS.
Note : Support for this filesystem is dead as fish in desert.So you are on your own.

Ext4 and xfs .
If function noatime is enabled, then both of them work more or less the same.
No diference – large files or small.

Xfs is best on RHEL – if you have Red Hat – definitely use XFS. There is fulls support etc

Ext4 – use with stride,stripe-width + RAID (except for RAID1)
