0 Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/

Usually happens during Phpmyadmin instalation if you choose auto-config mode.
FIX :  If MySQL is already installed, then  sudo apt-get remove mysql
After removal  apt-get install mysql-server mysql-client
